St. Johns Ambulance

To day I have joined the St. Johns Ambulance. I will attend my first meeting next week. They hold their weekly meeting on a Wednesday evening which works out well because thats the same evening that Chris goes to the mountain rescue meetings.
This is some thing that I wanted to do when I was 7yrs old but we lived too far away, as the years have gone by I have kept thinking about it and now I have finally joined. Its nearly 50yrs later but now I have lifes experiences to fall back on I think I should do quite well.
Here is a list of things that I have been taught and remember
1]  Kiss of life - this must be carried out for as long as needed to get a satisfactory result
2] test heart beat - if going too fast put more perfume on and look in to their eyes. If its not beating run a mile
3] Test pulse - apply gentle pressure to wrist if its too fast sooth their brow, if its too slow walk away [do not run as accidents can happen while running]
4]Full body check - make sure hands are warm and apply gentle pressure to all parts.
All the above could save a life. Only pick patients of opposite sex for best results. Should a patient not survive my first aid then I must deny any knowledge of helping him .  grin
