Christmas in another place

Yesterday we went to see a nativity play with a difference. To start with scenes 1,2,&3 were set on a beach with the wise men plus a real camel, coming from far off lands [Peru, Africa and India] following a bright star that would lead them to a new king. They were met by some local people on their way home from work [ workers from Liverpool]who asked them where they were going and making comments about how far they had travelled. The next scene was of Herod’s Palace and the king wanting to know where the wise men were going and asking the local people to come back and let him know where this New King was.
We then had to move to a car park for the next scenes which were about the shepherds [with real sheep] and then we moved again to another car park for the last scenes in the stable with a real baby and the wise men arriving.
Although it only lasted 45mins it was bitterly cold and you needed to wrap up warm for it. they have only put 2 shows of this both of them yesterday, there was no charge to see this but you could put donations in to various charity tins.
Because of the various settings for this and been out side you could almost feel your self been taken back to that period in time. I think it was a shame that they didnt run it for more than the one day because I am sure with word of mouth it would have attracted a lot of people but I dont think the actors could have stood many more shows with the bitting winds on the beach.
