To day I have joined the St. Johns Ambulance. I will attend my first meeting next week. They hold their weekly meeting on a Wednesday evening which works out well because thats the same evening that Chris goes to the mountain rescue meetings.
This is some thing that I wanted to do when I was 7yrs old but we lived too far away, as the years have gone by I have kept thinking about it and now I have finally joined. Its nearly 50yrs later but now I have lifes experiences to fall back on I think I should do quite well.
Here is a list of things that I have been taught and remember
1] Kiss of life - this must be carried out for as long as needed to get a satisfactory result
2] test heart beat - if going too fast put more perfume on and look in to their eyes. If its not beating run a mile
3] Test pulse - apply gentle pressure to wrist if its too fast sooth their brow, if its too slow walk away [do not run as accidents can happen while running]
4]Full body check - make sure hands are warm and apply gentle pressure to all parts.
All the above could save a life. Only pick patients of opposite sex for best results. Should a patient not survive my first aid then I must deny any knowledge of helping him .

I thought that when you retired you were supposed to have more free time. I haven’t blogged for some time as I seem to be too busy, so much for retirement. At the beginning of Sept. I went to see my specialist in Liverpool and came away feeling very confused.and upset. After telling me he wanted to do on ercp and I refused he then offered me a partial removal of the pancreas which I also refused [ way too soon to be having that done] he then said that there was no need to see him again for 12mths. as he didn’t even know if I had pancreatitis. Hang on a min. he as just offered me drastic surgery then he says I might not have a problem at all.Yesterday I went to see my GP about it all, he as put my mind at rest after reading the hospital letter which says there is evidence to support that I have hereditary Pancreatitis.
Day after hospital I flew out to see Paul and Beth in their new home and I must say I like it very much indeed. I flew out club class [oh so much more comfy, and I didn’t suffer with jet lag like I normally do]Paul picked me up at the airport and we went straight to his house, much further to travle now but its in a nice area so worth it. We had a great ten days and got to see a bit of the area as well as some of their work mates and neighbours at the house warming. When I came home I couldnt upgrade as before so cramped in to normal seat and now 5 days later I am still suffering with jet lag.
Tigger as got no better in my absense so today I have been trying to train her to stay in her bed and let me out of her sight for a bit, I think I might have had a bit of sucess as she is laid in her basket in the conservatory out of my sight, so may be, just may be I might have taught her some thing.
Chris as now finished work for 10 days so we hope to go off for a few day trips and get the garden sorted out a bit ready for winter.
So I will close this with a thank you to all in America for making my stay a good one, next time I come Chris will be with me

Got a dealer in this morning to buy some antiques and other bits off us, unfortunately he couldn’t offer us very much so we are still left with more things than we had hoped for.
