Memories
Just been sat in conservatory watching fire works been let off all around us. From the Wirall round to Chester, to Mold , Ruthin and in the village its self. Tommy is terrified but Tigger is not too bothered. I remember when Paul and Andrew were little how they used to sit at their bedroom window watching them with the usual kids excitement, shouting to ask if we had seen “that big one”. How the years have flown by now we watch the fire works with the dogs and I get as excited as Paul and Andrew did. The early fire works are now finished and it should go fairly quiet till 10pm when there will probably be another lot going off.

Halloween
It doesn’t seem 12mth. since we were in Salem enjoying this festive season but it is. So if you cant join them then beat them and this we did by having a party on Saturday night for around 28people. It was a great night and every one enjoyed them selves. We decorated the rooms up with cobwebs and ghost etc. We served witches stew, tomb stone cake and much more delightful tasting food. I might be tempted to do it again next year. It was so good that a neighbor as now decided to have a party in November.
Tonight though is THE NIGHT and we have had a steady stream of trick or treaters at the door. When I show them the cob webs they have all asked if they are real. Now come on these webs are massive, they have giant spiders in them. I told one group that they were real and that I never cleaned up and I got a big WOW from them. Pumpkin man on the lawn was also a big hit. I have taken pics but as yet I am having trouble getting them posted but when I do they will be up here for you to see. Roll on Xmas.
Diet
2 weeks ago I found out that I have an intolerance to wheat, dairy, fish and citrus. Put that with a low fat and sugar diet and no alcohol and I wondered what was left for me.First clear out the food cupboard and restock with things I can have, also looking at Beths food ideas and a book about GF, fat free, dairy free and sugar free cooking to give me ideas. I Then I started by changing my Dairy food, goats milk for filter coffee, soya milk for cereal. This was working ok so then last Tuesday I started by changing the wheat. This as been quite hard but with a good book and Beth on hand I have managed ok with that. Fish is not a problem as I ate very little of it and the same with citrus, I ate very little fruit and its just citric acid in food that was left. [ I might try taking this out later] I cannot believe how much better I feel. I have been on a very strong cocktail of pain killers for 3yrs and now I am down to just One painkiller left to take. I also took tablets for sickness every meal time [not any more] Then I took tablets to prevent mi grains [finished] I feel a new person now, I cant explain how much better I am.
Now the testing time comes. Eating out. Today we met Andy for lunch and went for an indian. I decided to have sheiki kebabs and chicken biriyani, I know its not low fat and its got ghee in it but I had to try. Result I felt sickly for a couple of hours after but not too bad, I was expecting to be a lot worse but 8hrs later and I have a slight tummy ache but I can live with that.
In December it is the family Xmas meal where we all meet up some where for Xmas dinner. My sister got the menu for us and I realized there was very very little I could have, so I gave the place a quick call, spoke to the chef, explained mt diet. NO PROBLEM . Starters I have picked a fruit dish that as alcohol in but they will omit it for me. Turkey dinner , I will pass on the stuffing and sausage and gravy. Dessert, that was a problem as I couldn’t see anything that we could change so I am taking my own xmas pudding and sauce for them to re heat. then its coffee and mince pies so again I shall take my own along.
The Chef was more than happy to work round every thing with me, so all I can say to that is
WELL DONE to THE DOG AND GUN GLUSBURN Nr Keighley Yorkshire
